Diesel or petrol, V6 or V8, you can be sure that the Mercedes powerplant inside any GL-Class has the power to cope with anything. Take the GL320 CDI – 224 hp, with a peak torque delivery of 510Nm and that's the baby of the range.

Transmission

A total of 7 forward ratios in the intelligent 7G-Tronic automatic transmission means almost seamless gear changes and reduced fuel consumption. If you want to suddenly pick up the pace, just kickdown on the accelerator to instantly shift to the optimum gear for maximum acceleration.

Traction & Stability

Load distribution across the wheels of a normal vehicle can become unbalanced on uneven surfaces, risking wheel spin and a dangerous loss of control. The GL's 4MATIC selective brake actuation redirects the engine's torque to the wheels with grip, for more sure-footed progress. Backed up by 4ESP® for wheel-by-wheel braking, it provides excellent traction and stability.

A Perfect Ride

All-round, AirMATIC Air suspension keeps the ride height constant at all times, so even if the road's rocky, your journey isn't. The accompanying Adaptive Damping System (ADS) can be set to either Auto, Sport or Comfort, to tailor the ride to your specific preference.

Versatile Interior

Fold down the second row of seats, then electronically lower third and suddenly you're looking at 2,300 litres of load space. Getting to it couldn't be easier, thanks to the optional Easy-Pack electronic tailgate which opens and closes at the touch of a button.
